Interview with Ferran Esteve
1. Who are you?
I’m Ferran Esteve, I was born and live in Barcelona. I would say that I am a person who is driven by creativity and technology, as well as projects that serve to improve society. The combination of these three aspects does not happen often, but I find that my interests tend to orbit around them. I also consider myself to be very learning-oriented, so I enjoy any activity or reading that allows me to discover interesting or unfamiliar perspectives.

2. What are you currently doing?
Professionally, I work as a Project Manager in innovation, strategy and digital transformation projects. Basically, I coordinate teams to turn promising concepts into tangible solutions that allow us to improve our social impact. In addition, I regularly write about technology, society and digital culture for various publications. This gives me the opportunity to express how I see some of the trends of the present, imagine the future and interview fascinating people.
3. What was your experience at SHIFTA like?
Studying at SHIFTA allowed me to delve deeper into topics that had always interested me and for which I had never found the right moment. The online format was fundamental, as I was able to combine the Master’s with my work and taking care of my two young children. I not only like this format because of its flexibility, but in my case, it was essential. Otherwise, I would not have been able to study a Master’s degree at this point in my life.
4. What did the Master's degree you studied with us give you?
The Master in Creative Computing allowed me to discover a range of possibilities to better connect creative ideas with technological tools. I learned to experiment with different technologies and to develop concepts in practical projects, which is especially useful in my work, which focuses on innovation and the design of new solutions. Moreover, being an international master’s degree, I was able to enrich myself with diverse perspectives and experiences, both from the faculty and from my classmates.
What would you recommend?
For a couple of years now, I’ve been into science fiction, so I’m reading a lot of classics in the genre. I would recommend Crónicas marcianas by Ray Bradbury and, if you like it, Otras crónicas marcianas, which is also published by Libros del Zorro Rojo, with beautiful illustrations by David de las Heras. In fact, any book published by this publisher is a good recommendation.
